2023 Season Trip Descriptions and Rates
Dock-to-Dock Rentals: You can paddle away from our dock and paddle back (we provide no transportation to a distant launch site). We recommend this for the novice paddlers and for Stand-up Paddle Boards. As you paddle around the bend, you will see many birds, including sea gulls, Prothonotary Warblers (spring and early summer), and Cormorants. Or you can go south of the bridge, with possibly multiple motorboats, and paddle around Goat Island. Experience Level: Novice. Time: As long as you want.
Dock-To-Dock: $20/hr for a canoe, tandem kayak, or Standup Paddleboard or $60 for all day
$15/hr for a solo kayak or $55 for all day.
Rentals include paddles and life vests.
Personal Boat Portage: For a fee, we can take your personal boat, and you from one location in the watershed to another. Our most popular is leaving from Pocomoke River Canoe Company and dropping you off at Porters Crossing, and paddling back to PRCC. But of course, there are many options to choose! (listed below)
Personal Boat Portage: $20/ boat
Porter’s Crossing (Most Popular): Begins 5 ½ miles north of Snow Hill on the Pocomoke River. At the put-in point, the river is scarcely 20 yards wide, bounded by thick bogs of bald cypress. Paddlers wind around magnificent cypresses and around the edges of vast beds of spatterdock (a water lily-like plant). On sunny days the logs will be crowded with turtles. There are stately great blue herons fishing in the shallows and leggy white egrets. In spring, the river’s banks are dotted with migrating warblers. Fishing – for bass, perch, bluegill and the river’s signature fish, the alligator gar – is good. Experience Level: Moderate. Time: 2 1/2 – 3 hours of steady paddling, but for your rental you have the boat for the balance of the day.
Porter’s Crossing: $60/canoe or tandem kayak $55/solo kayak. Includes paddles and life vests
Nassawango Creek (Red House Road): Nassawango Creek winds through 7,000 acres of Nature Conservancy property. The forest is thick with woodland birds, and there are plenty of wonderful bald cypress trees. We put in at the Red House Road crossing near the Furnace Town Historic Site. Paddlers head slowly east on the creek, turning left when they reach its mouth at the Pocomoke River, and paddle back to Snow Hill. The trip takes about 3 hours. The Pocomoke River south of Snow Hill may have power boats, especially on the weekend, as the river is very popular among bass fishermen. Experience Level: Moderate. Time: 3 hours of steady paddling, but for your rental you have the boat for the balance of the day.
Nassawango Creek: $60/canoe, or tandem kayak, $55/solo kayak. Includes paddles and life vests
Motor Boat Rentals: Leave from our dock using one of our 16ft jon boats. Bring your fishing gear, or just have a wonderful self-guided cruise on the Pocomoke River. If you are born after July 1st, 1972 you are required by Maryland State Law and Our Policy to obtain a Maryland Boaters Safety License before the use of one of our motorized boats! Time: As long as you want.
Motor Boat: $30/hr or $150/ day. $25 for additional fuel tank (one should be enough!). Includes ONE tank of fuel, seat pads and life vests.
E.A. Vaughn Wildlife Preserve (Taylor’s Landing): The E.A. Vaughn Wildlife Preserve is along the western shore of Chincoteague Bay between Taylor’s Landing and George Island Landing. Many creeks wind through the preserve and the waters are rich in waterfowl. The salt marsh is a nursery for dozens of species. You’ll see ribbed mussels clinging to the salt grass above the high tide line, and blue crabs skittering across the sandy bottom. This is a remarkably different experience than paddling the Pocomokewatershed. In the summer, be prepared with insect repellent. We put you in at Taylor’s Landing, and you call us when you have returned to the landing (must have a cell phone). A map of the Preserve is provided, and you can spend all day paddling the marsh if you wish. Experience Level: Moderate. Time: All Day
E.A. Vaughn Wildlife Preserve: $90/canoe, or tandem kayak $75/solo kayak. Includes paddles and life vests
Corkers Creek Loop at Pocomoke River State Park: Shad Landing: Take the loop around the island, making your way through the creek, down a portion of the Pocomoke River, and back to the boat shack. Or, paddle up Corkers Creek and make your way and return to the boat shack (or even back around the island!) Going around the island take about one hour. Experience Level: Novice. Time: Island: 1hr, up creek to bridge and back: 1 ½ hr, but all day if you want.
Pocomoke River State Park: Shad Landing: $70/ canoe, or tandem kayak. $65/solo kayak. Includes paddles and life vests.
All Day Paddle: Experience the beauty of the Pocomoke River with an all-day paddle! We will drop you off at Porters Crossing in which you can paddle South, with at checkpoint at PRCC. At this point, you can take a restroom break, eat lunch at picnic, or keep paddling. After stopping at PRCC, you paddle under the town bridge, and make your way down to Pocomoke River State Park, Shad or Milburn Landing, where you are picked up and brought back to PRCC (unless you are staying at the campgrounds). This trip takes about 7 hours, so start early! Experience Level: Veteran. Time: Appx. 7hr (depending on speed of paddling)

Naturalist Guided Trips: Not wanting to freelance one of our self-guided trips? You can request a naturalist to guide you through our Corkers Creek, Nassawango, or Porters Crossing Trips. During this trip, many species of plants and animals will be pointed out as you make your way down the Pocomoke River. Must book 48 hours in advance unless naturalist is present at time of arrival. Currently only available weekends. Time: 3 hours for Nassawango/Porter’s Crossing, 1 hour Corkers Creek Island.
